Burning
Instructions for All Types of Candles
- Remove
all packaging before lighting your candle.
- Place
your candle on a protected, heat-resistant, dry surface, away from anything
that can catch fire, and out of reach of children and pets. Use holders
designed for the particular candle style so that your candle is secure
and fits properly.
- Trim
the wick on your candle to 1/4 inch before lighting.
- If the
candle is smoking, blow it out, trim the wick, remove trimmings and
relight it.
- Keep
the candle's wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, or any other
combustible materials. In order to prevent dripping, keep the wick centered
and avoid drafts.
- Always
keep a burning candle within eye sight and do not forget to extinguish
your candle after you have enjoyed its aroma and light.
Burning
Instructions for Pillar Candles
- When
the wax pool reaches the candle's edge, extinguish the flame and allow
the candle to harden before relighting. This will prevent the candle
from dripping.
Burning
Instructions for Taper Candles
- Avoid
drafts, excessive vibrations or nearby heat sources in order to prevent
dripping. Additional preventive measures are: (1) be sure the tapers
are straight and set firmly in their holders and (2) trim the wick as
set forth above.
Candle
Care Tips
- Candles
are sensitive to light and temperature, so be careful when storing them
for any extended period of time. Avoid color fading, melting, disfigurement
or cracking by storing candles in a cool, dry, flat place, away from
direct sunlight or fluorescent light. Storage temperature should not
be allowed to exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit or fall below 32 degrees
Fahrenheit. Exposure to moisture may inhibit relighting. Follow these
guidelines when traveling with candles as well. Do not keep candles
in the trunk of your car or out in the sun, as they will melt and discolor.
For the above reasons, be careful when placing candles in your luggage
for romantic getaways.
